Segal Re-visited

In the 1970s, the architect Walter Segal devised a simple, modularised form of timber-frame housebuilding, which came to be known as the Segal method.

The Segal method helped people in housing need with no previous experience to design and build their own houses, and take control of their living environment.

SEGAL RE-VISITED looks back at the Segal method, and aims to bring it to a wider contemporary audience by providing an interactive learning resource that works inside the popular free 3D modelling programme Sketchup.

The Segal Sketchup Instructor is an extension built using Ruby and the Sketchup API, which integrates web-based interactive learning resources including embedded 3D models into the interaction with the Sketchup program.
